With a successful prototype in hand the invention can then be produced and introduced into the market for which it was developed. At this point it is up to the consumers to validate whether the inventor has produced a viable product. If that driver is dialing it’s 5.9 times higher, reaching for something is 6.7 times higher, and texting while driving a truck is 23.2 times more likely that the person will crash. They also say that there were 5,000 car accidents last year that involved texting. These are enough reasons to prevent texting while driving.

Now that we know how dangerous it is, how can we choose the method to prevent texting while driving that will be the most effective? The law has already been enacted on this in various states that have made it illegal to text while driving. Over half of them have already done so, and more are finalizing their legislation. The placement of the laws does help; at the very least the drivers are putting their phones away when they see a police officer. Some of the individual laws are very severe in their punishment. One state has a fine of up to $500 if they are caught texting while driving. I have a confession to make – sometimes I don’t want to work.
