Getting ready for your wedding can be so much fun and so stressful and wonderful.  It is really a rite of passage in our society and in some ways a message that you have grown up.  If you really have grown up and are ready to create a lasting relationship it is best to start with all you ducks in a row.  The best way to line them up from the outset is with a down loadable prenup.  I also recommend a package of forms to comunicate with the wedding planner and all the vendors.

Getting things down on paper is the best way to avoid misunderstandings later.  A prenuptial agreement can be worth its weight in gold many times over not only for what happens if things don’t work out but it is very helpful to have each spouse sit down and go through their financials with each other so every one has a clear idea of what to expect after marriage.  Assets as well as liabilities need to be discussed.

I recommend having contracts for your vendors on hand as you plan your wedding because each vendor is essential in their own way.  Having written communication leaves less room for error and more enforceability of consequences if anything does go wrong.  Having good contracts with plenty of places to get ahold of you if anything does change or go wrong can head a lot of problems off at the pass.

The first dance is of course, representing the start of your new life together, but the other ones are your opportunity to make those close to you feel important. If you and your spouse-to-be are planning a small intimate wedding you might consider some unusual wedding venues; especially if you and your fiancée are known for your adventurous ways.

There is not a written rule that states what type of place you must hold a wedding.  If you choose to be different, that is up to you and your finance.   This is your wedding after all.  There are many unique places you can hold a wedding; when choosing one, don’t worry about what others may say.  This is your day, not theirs.

Obviously size matters.  You might have a hard time getting married in a hot air balloon if you plan on inviting one hundred of your friends and family members.  But a winery might be the perfect location for that many people.

Consider the look you want for your wedding as well.  Would your guests want to trek up a mountain in their Sunday best, or is it come as you are?  What about you?  Are you going full out in a white gown?  Then a side of a mountain probably won’t work well.

Sit down with your spouse-to-be and throw ideas at each other.  Make a game out of it.  A bottle of wine, some good snack foods and laughter.  Make a no boundaries rule; any idea gets written down, regardless of how silly it may seem.  Who knows?  You might find the perfect spot this way!  A petting zoo?  How fun!

Once you have your list you can start going over some of the issues that were raised above.  Eliminate the spots that seemed like a good idea but just won’t work.  Make a date out of scouting the spots with your fiancée.  Go back to the coffee house where you had your first date.  Sit and imagine it as your wedding place.  Can you see it working?  Then you might have found your perfect unusual wedding venue!
